She earned her undergraduate degree in human biology from Stanford, where she also excelled in the women's basketball program, competing in two Final Fours over four years. She then achieved Summa Cum Laude honors upon graduating with her Doctorate of Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry in 2020, where she met her husband.
Dr. Samuelson has received extensive training through externships with Orange County Retina and Coastal Vision, focusing on posterior and anterior segment diseases and dry eye management. She has co-managed LASIK/PRK patients, post-cataract surgery patients, and corneal cross-linking referrals. Additionally, she completed a rotation at the University Eye Center at Ketchum Health Los Angeles, specializing in pediatric vision care and fitting specialty contact lenses for irregular corneas. Her externship at the Long Beach VA allowed her to treat veterans with various ocular conditions, emphasizing glaucoma and macular degeneration management.
Dr. Samuelson is national board and glaucoma certified, and she is licensed to use diagnostic and therapeutic pharmaceutical agents. Her passion for community service has led her to participate in mission trips to Mexico for comprehensive eye exams and volunteer in the Special Olympics healthy eyes program.
Dr. Samuelson’s favorite part of her role is getting to know her patients and providing them with the best eye care possible. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling, watching movies with her husband, playing basketball with her sisters Karlie and Katie Lou, playing tennis, walking her two black Labradors, and spending time at the beach.
